What’s your Place? competition successful

January 3, 2014

The What’s you Place? poetry competition closed at 24.00 GMT on 31 December 2013. We were inundated with poems from all the continents with the exception of Antarctica.

We’re very pleased to announce that the grand total is 456 poems. This will keep the judges, Norbert Hirschhorn, Donald Gardner and Arnold Jansen op de Haar very busy.

English and Dutch nominees will be announced on our website on Thursday 30 January to mark Gedichtendag, the Dutch National Poetry Day.

You will have a chance to hear these poetic voices live at the awards ceremony which will be held on Friday 28 February in central London. More details will follow, but don’t forget to put this date in your diary.

Bernadette Jansen op de Haar, publisher, commented: ‘I’m delighted with the turnout this year as we set quite a challenging task. It’s wonderful to read poems from all over the world and to come across absolute gems.’

The winning English and Dutch poem will be published in our magazine.
