The instructions for this competition stated:
Take you inspiration from our recently published novel King of Tuzla, and imagine how life would be if you were living in a war or conflict. The key requirement was that the story is being told from the perspective of one main character.
We were impressed by the range of conflicts and situations covered by the stories we received. Many of them were very moving accounts and it was very hard to draw up a shortlist. So first of all a big thank you to all of you who sent in your story. We hope that this competition helped you to practise your skills and we hope that you keep writing more.
