After a lively discussion the judges, Laura Del-Rivo, Paul McVeigh, Arnold Jansen op de Haar and the publisher, are delighted to announce that ‘In the Current Climate’ by Vicky Grut is the winning short story in the I is Another competition.
This is what the judges had to say:
‘In the Current Climate’ is beautifully written and asks questions about how authority influences a human being. The way Vicky Grut treats this subject is necessary and original. When the office is searched the antagonist is captured in the literal and figurative sense by a situation, which rapidly deteriorates. It makes the reader ask a question: what would I do in a situation like this? It’s a lovely interpretation of the I is Another theme and its repercussions: to what extent am I an independent person?
