This is Arnold’s first appearance in the Scottish capital Edinburgh and at the National Galleries no less. He performs at a festive reception to celebrate the special Dutch themed January issue of Litro and the opening of exhibition The Young Vermeer. Vermeer is a famous Dutch painter, he created the Girl with the Pearl Earring, the painting not the book or the film inspired by the painting.
Very excitingly Arnold will give us the very first preview of Angel, his latest novel to be translated. Angel is the sequel to King of Tuzla. Angel tells up what Tijmen is up to after he has left the army and become a writer. Rather appropriately for this occasion part of Angel is set in the Outer Hebrides on the Shiants.
If you can’t come to this invitation only event, don’t worry, we will publish our usual entertaining account of this event on this website.
This reading follows hot on the heels of Arnold’s evening long performance at the Poetry Cafe on 20 October, and his appearance on 3 November at the Royal Festival in London. You can find out more about Arnold Jansen op de Haar from his home page.
