Arnold at the Poetry Cafe

October 4, 2010

I am very pleased to announce that Arnold Jansen op de Haar will be reading from Yugoslav Requiem in the Poetry Cafe on 20th October 2010.

Yugoslav Requiem – a journey from soldier to poet

This poignant collection of war poems has been translated into English by Paul Vincent. In it the author reflects on his personal journey. He searches for his own identity and we feel his overpowering need of no longer wanting to belong to any group or organisation. Arnold will also use other material such as his blogs and columns to show how the collection came about and to give more insight about the translation process. Follow Arnold on his inspiring journey from being a soldier to becoming a published poet.

During the interval and at the end of the evening Arnold will be signing his books.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to be present at Arnold’s very first reading in the UK!

Time & Date: Wednesday 20th  October at 7.30 pm
Venue: The Poetry Cafe, 22 Betterton Street London WC2H 9BX, see map
Tickets: Tickets at the door £5 / £3 concessions. Email us to reserve a ticket.

Arnold appears as part of Poets of Today – Poetry in translation, a series of readings organised by Sebastian Hayes, co-director of Brimstone Press Ltd.
