Many congratulations to Wendy Brandmark who has won the First Prize in the Short Story Category of the Bridport Prize for her short story Cut Loose.
From the report of judge Tessa Hadley:
‘Cut Loose seems to be written in a single perfect breath, so apparently artless yet perfectly controlled. There’s simply nothing out of place in this hushed, tensed imagining of the twisted history of violence between a man and a woman, all wrapped up as austerely as a Greek drama inside one lonely room, in a few short weeks of waiting.’
Cut Loose is one of Wendy Brandmark’s stories set in Denver. If you would like to read more of Wendy’s Denver stories check out He Runs the Moon – Tales from the Cities which contains several more intriguing stories set in Denver including The Denver Ophelia.
